Pastor Ed Taylor grew up in Southern California. Having responded to the gospel in 1991 at Calvary Chapel Downey, he spent eight years learning, growing, and serving there. In July of 1999, sensing the call of God, Ed and his family moved to the Denver area hoping to be used by God. In December 1999, Calvary Aurora began Sunday services and today impacts the community for Jesus in wonderful ways.
Pastor Ed's heart is to be transparent from the pulpit for he truly desires that everyone, from all walks of life, will embrace Jesus and grow in His grace. Ed and his wife, Marie, have been married for over 27 years and have three children – of which their oldest son, Eddie, went to be with the Lord in 2013. Ed and Marie also have a precious grandson, Eddie’s son, Levi.

I was born-again on February 28, 1991, at Calvary Chapel Downey, CA. Coming from a Catholic background, I knew about God but it wasn't until I began reading and studying the Bible for myself that I understood God's love for me in sending His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for my sins. When I accepted God's gift of salvation things began to change in my life. I recognized my sinful nature, and I was ashamed of living a rebellious life doing what I thought was right in my own eyes. God's forgiveness of my sins helped me forgive my husband's and He restored our marriage. He also gave me a desire to serve Him which I have the privilege of doing here at Calvary Aurora. My life verse is Matthew 16:24, "Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.'" I am privileged to be a pastor's wife and the women's ministry overseer. I enjoy encouraging and exhorting women to love God, obey His Word, and to identify with who they are in Christ. I am blessed beyond measure to be a daughter of the King of kings.
Assistant to Pastor Ed

I grew up in Los Angeles, California, I gave my life to the Lord at the age of 5 and have been following the Lord ever since. At the age of 16, I started serving on the worship/leadership team of our high school group and have been serving the Lord since. In 2003, our family moved to the Philippines, as missionaries, to plant a church, praise God, Calvary Chapel Mactan is still going strong today! In February of 2013 the Lord called us to Calvary Aurora and in September of 2013 we moved! I am married to my beautiful wife Michelle and we have one son, Cameron, who is 21. My life verse is Colossians 4:5-6, "Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace seasoned with salt, that you may know how to answer each one."

I have grown up in many places (domestic and oversees), as my dad faithfully served in the Air Force for over 20 years. I also served in the Army, so the idea of moving every few years was what I knew for a long time. I have found Colorado to be a wonderful place to call home, and have now lived here longer than anywhere else. My amazing wife, Cassandra and I have been married since 1991. We both gave our lives to the Lord at a Harvest Crusade in Colorado Springs in 1995. The Lord has blessed us with opportunities to serve in various ministries through the years. In January 2012, the Lord gave me the privilege of joining the terrific staff here at Calvary Chapel Aurora.

I grew up in Southern California, where I was raised in a Christian home, but in high school I struggled to live for the Lord. My junior year of high school I dropped out due to a rebellious heart. The Lord moved my whole family to the Philippines that same year and it was then that I truly started to live for the Lord. At 16, I went into full time mission work and began leading worship on trips throughout the Philippines and in South East Asia. I’ve been coming to Calvary Aurora since 2005 and I am currently involved with leading worship and our young adult’s ministry, The Grove. My life verse is Psalm 119: 10-11, “With my whole heart I have sought You; oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
Assistant Pastor - Audio Visual / Ascend
In 1993, I began serving the Lord at Calvary Chapel Downey in California. I served in high school ministry, sound, worship, and various other ministries. In June 1998, I married my high school sweetheart, Staisha, and then from 2002 to June 2015 I served as the Worship Pastor at Calvary Downey. During that time we were blessed with three beautiful children. A theme verse for my wife and I has been Jeremiah 6:16 - “This is what the Lord says: 'Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.'" On July 1, 2015 we answered the Lord's call to move to Aurora, join the pastoral staff of Calvary Aurora, and begin a School of Worship to train up worshipers and worship leaders for the region. We are amazed by the Lord's faithfulness and excited for this new season of life and ministry.
Assistant Pastor - High School

I am a native of Colorado and grew up here in Aurora. I grew up in a Christian home, but really committed my life to Jesus when I was 26 years old. Soon after I began serving at the church I was attending helping with the youth ministry. That was more than a decade ago. Eventually the Lord led me to attend Calvary Aurora which became a place for me to really grow and mature in my faith. I continued serving in youth ministry and was eventually raised up to be on staff as an assistant pastor. I have been on staff at Calvary Aurora since 2010. As part of my oversight, I am the pastor of the Uprise High School Ministry. Although I have a large heart for youth and youth leaders, I regularly counsel and teach a variety of ages and age groups. I regularly counsel from the Bible on the topics of parenting, marriage, addiction, depression, and more. I think of myself as a passionate teacher of God’s Word - someone who knows God’s Word, let’s it penetrate my heart, and uses it to encourage others. I am joined in the ministry by my beautiful wife, Jaclyn, and our three young children with one on the way.
I was born in Southern California and came to know the Lord at the age of 5 at Calvary Chapel Downey. I later moved to Colorado with my family after we felt the call to plant Calvary Aurora. I graduated Calvary Chapel Bible College with a Bachelors in Biblical Studies in 2013. I came on staff in January of 2014 as a Pastoral Intern, I completed the internship in February of 2015 and now serve on the Pastoral Team and directly oversee Calvary Aurora's Media (Web, Apps, Design Projects, Social). It has been a blessing to witness all that the Lord has done through His church here in Aurora, and I am excited to see what the future holds.

In my senior year of high school the Lord pulled me from the miry pit and I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I married my beautiful wife, Jean, along with her three boys in 1994, and we began attending Calvary Aurora in the fall of 2002. We are enjoying being grandparents to our two grandsons and one granddaughter. Jean and I became involved in the marriage ministry shortly after we were taken through a premarital class ourselves and then after taking other couples through the class, we came to oversee the marriage ministry. My life verse is Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Children's Ministry Pastor
In 1992, my wife, Shandelle, and I moved from Phoenix, AZ to Denver with our 2 little kids and one on the way. Around 1994, we moved to our home in Aurora and having re-dedicated our hearts and lives to Jesus, we began attending a metro area Calvary Chapel. In our next home church, Horizon Christian Fellowship in Littleton, we began to grow in ministry (along with our kids) and served with the blessed pastor in a Saturday night fellowship outreach in Aurora. Shortly, Pastor Ed Taylor would join our outreach group and in late 1999, began Calvary Chapel Aurora as its new shepherd on Sunday mornings. My wife and I would team-lead the Children’s Ministries in all these endeavors until 2008, when I was invited to join the staff of Calvary Aurora as an assistant pastor. Overseeing the Children’s Ministries of our church has fully enriched my life, and I pray I have enriched kids and adults here alike – always steering us to Jesus and His immense LOVE! Personal interests include US History (19th C.) reading, recreational bicycling around our beautiful metropolis, and historical (20th C. air & armor) scale-model building. Biblical reading favorites will always include The Jesus Style and On Being a Servant of God (Erwin; Wiersbe,) and a personal favorite Scripture verse is Psalm 84:11.

I am a Colorado native born in Denver and have lived in Aurora since 1992. I came to a saving faith in Jesus Christ in December 2011. God truly changed my desires, repaired my marriage, and has given me a heart to serve others. I have been serving in the Junior High ministry, Engage, at Calvary Aurora since April 2013 and God has really given me a burden for the youth. I love Psalm 40 because it truly reflects how the Lord saved me from destruction and how He has worked in and through me since I’ve given my life to Him.

Born in Hillsboro, Oregon but lived most of my elementary, teen, and college years in Arizona. Moved from there to Colorado for a short time, got married then back to AZ. Four years later my wife and I and our 3 kids moved to Ukraine to serve the Lord with Calvary Chapel Kagarlyk. Six years later, the Lord led us back to Colorado where I now serve at Calvary Aurora. Raised a PK (pastor’s kid), I have been involved in ministry my whole life following where God leads and trusting Him along the way. I enjoy CARtooning on the side, working out, VW's and spending time with my family.

I was born in Colorado and lived several years in So. Cal. I grew up building Hot Rods and classic cars with my dad. Went to school for Psychology and Computer networking and then became a Realtor, which I have been for the past 10 years. Now, I am on staff doing work for the Kingdom of God through Grace FM, Calvary Aurora's Radio Station.
I was born and raised in Chicago, IL, to Aura and Victor Portillo in a traditional Latin and Christian home. I grew up in a very musical family. I am the youngest of six siblings. On November 16, 2012, I attended a concert for “The City Harmonic” and I met some really great people who attended the hosting church. I was invited to attend a worship service and encouraged to attend a women’s bible study. I signed up for the bible study using a book by Kay Author on How to Make Decisions You Won’t Regret and slowly transitioned to Calvary Aurora. Making Calvary Aurora my home church has been a decision that I have not regretted.

I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and met Jesus while reading the Bible as a young girl of 8 years old. After a season without discipleship in my teens, I recommitted my life to Jesus at a Calvary Chapel service in 1993. Together with my husband, Michael, I have attended Calvary Aurora since 1999. I’ve loved the privilege of serving the children in our fellowship through the Children’s Ministry and in our community through Calvary Christian Academy. An emphasis in serving the children this year comes from Psalm 78:6-7, “…That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children, That they may set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments”
I was born and raised in Northern Colorado. I grew up in a Christian home and came to the Lord at a young age.
My husband Kevin and my two girls, Kyla and Ariana, are daily proof that God loves me. The three of us just returned (July 2016) from our first family mission trip to Sayulita, Mexico! We were all in love and can’t wait to return again to the mission field to serve God! As a family we also spend many hours at the pool in the summer and we enjoy hikes and, of course, the mountains.
Serving in the academy in many capacities I have taught all grades from 3 to 7! I love facilitating Running Club for the Academy, as well. God is doing great things in our lives- my prayer is that you can grow in His love and wisdom as you daily seek Him. One of my favorite verses from the mission trip is Psalm 28:7. I love the promises God gives in those verses!
I am from Lima, Peru, and I came to the U.S. 13 years ago to live with my husband, Mike, who is an American citizen. We met in Lima in 2003 when he was part of a mission team that came to work with my church. God has blessed us with a beautiful daughter, Carrie, who will be attending Calvary Christian Academy.
I received the Lord as my Savior when I was 8 years old. My grandma prayed constantly for all of her grandchildren, and she did all that she could to take us to church, even when our parents did not attend. The Lord put in my heart from that time, at an early age, the desire to be a teacher. I've been working with children for more than 15 years.
We have been at Calvary Aurora for almost 3 years. This is my first year as part of the Academy team teaching 5th grade. I couldn't feel more excited and privileged!! My favorite Bible chapter is Psalm 23. I learned it when I was a child, and it has been the encouragement the Lord has used in my life during hardships and happy times. May His name be glorified forever!
I grew up in Washington state in the beautiful Skagit Valley. I knew very little about God until hearing the gospel through a Christian outreach for high school students, where I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior at the age of 15. I was privileged to have excellent discipleship, which established a foundation for my faith that would be needed for the many different seasons of life and growth that followed. My husband, Mark and I have been married for 22 years and have 5 children that are our incredible gifts from the Lord. Our family has been attending Calvary Chapel Aurora since we moved to Colorado in 2007. Our whole family has been blessed to grow in our faith as a part of this fellowship. I am blessed to serve on staff as a first grade teacher with the Calvary Christian Academy. I am continuously encouraged in my faith by Jeremiah 29:11-13.
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. "
I gave my life to Christ in 2009. The ministry I am involved with at Calvary Aurora is the Calvary Christian Academy. I have helped with the before/after care, the junior kindergarten program, and I have subbed and taught 4th grade Science and History. I am currently serving as the 5th grade Language Arts teacher. I have a daughter who is 9 and will be in fourth grade. My favorite verse is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." I believe this to be more true now in my life than ever before.
I cannot believe eleven years have passed since I first walked into Calvary Aurora as a young 8th grader, steadily growing in my relationship with Jesus. I had the blessing of growing up in a strong Christian home and gave my life to Christ on my living room floor when I was seven years old. I have always lived in Aurora and it is a blessing to have found such an amazing church where I can worship and grow here in my hometown. I met my husband, Tucker, at Calvary’s young adult Bible study, The Grove, and we recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary. I am so grateful for the privilege of teaching 2nd grade at Calvary Christian Academy. To have the opportunity to love on such sweet little souls and teach them about Jesus at the same age I gave my life to Christ is so special! As I continue in walk with the Lord and go deeper in my relationship with Him, a couple of verses I go to consistently for strength and encouragement are Psalm 27:13-14, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!”
I grew up in central Florida and moved to Colorado in 1989. I got saved when I was 18 years old after a friend invited me to church with her family. God brought me and my husband, Ralph, together in 1995 in Aurora, and we began our journey together. We have three children, Daniel, Hannah and Rachael. We have been at Calvary Aurora since 2009 and I have been serving as a teacher on the academy team and served in a variety of Children's ministry activities. My husband Ralph serves on the safety/security team. We have been able to participate in a few mission trips locally and abroad and have been tremendously blessed by serving and supporting our missionaries. My favorite scripture verse is John 15:4-5, "Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can you, except you abide in me. I am the vine and you are the branches, He that abides in me and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit, apart from me you can do nothing."
My journey knowing and serving Jesus began 10 years ago. A handful of men and women from the young adults’ ministry, my coworkers at that time, along with my two managers (also Calvary folks) kept inviting me to church and gently telling me about Jesus and his desire for my life. As God’s Holy Spirit softened my heart to their words, I began attending services at Calvary Aurora, a church that met in a middle school cafeteria. I eventually surrendered my life to Jesus, and since then, He has led me by faith into the mission field and back home where I am, now, growing a family with my wife, Christi. Having recently completed a teaching program at a local university, God has opened up the door for me to serve our church body as a middle school teacher in the Academy. I look forward to partnering with our church’s families in order to fulfill Proverbs 22:6 to “train up a child in the way he should go [so that] even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
For the most part, I’ve lived in the Denver area from a very young age. Following a series of trials in my life and alienation from God due to my own sin, the Lord orchestrated events and people in my life to bring me into a personal relationship with Himself. Forgiveness and salvation set me on a discipleship course that brought me to Calvary Aurora in early 2001. My husband Pete and I have 4 children. I homeschooled them from 2001 through 2014. I have served in various capacities through the years and am now blessed to serve as the middle school Math teacher and 8th grade home room and Bible teacher for the Academy. My background in secondary math education combined with my love for Jesus Christ and for children, is being used for Christ’s Kingdom through teaching students to understand our perfectly ordered world and the incredible story of God’s plans for His people through the study of the Old Testament. My favorite verse especially as it relates to my students is “So teach us to number our days that we might gain a heart of wisdom.” Ps. 90:12
I found myself at the age of 27, a single father at the very end of myself. I was on my knees in a basement bedroom crying out to a God I didn’t know, asking, begging, if He was real to show me. God is faithful, and when we were yet His enemies, He loved us! I have attended Calvary Aurora for over 7 years now, serving in various places but most of my time spent with the safety/security team. My life verse is all of Psalm 27, I feel I have walked down that whole Psalm and back, by God’s grace. Currently vs. 1 & 14, speaking to God’s strength and security, which I cling to, as I wait patiently and firmly for His direction. I have been married almost 3 yrs., my wife and I have a beautiful blended family with 6 children. We have 4 girls and 2 boys that range in age from 5-22. We are a living example of God’s redemptive grace, and we rely on Him every day. I am currently the P.E. teacher at Calvary Christian Academy. When you strengthen the physical and mental, the spirit becomes stronger as well.
I am originally from the east coast – New Haven, CT. I have two grown daughters and one granddaughter. In 2009, the Lord began calling me from my idolatrous ways, and I accepted Jesus in August of that year. My sister found CCA for me and I have been attending since September 2009. I have been involved in the men’s Bible study ministry since 2009. I taught kindergarten Bible study for almost a year. I’ve been on the media team for over 5 years, and on the worship team for the past 3 years. One of my life verses is Psalm 71, “In You O Lord, do I take refuge. Let me never be put shame. In Your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline Your ear to me and save me. Be to me a rock of refuge to which I may continually come….”
One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 26:3, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." I first placed my trust in Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was a young child, and I have been trusting in Him ever since. Although I am very grateful to have had that foundation from a young age, the older I grew, the more I lacked discipleship. I've spent most of my life in Aurora, Colorado and I was first introduced to Calvary when I was in middle school. Many years later, I returned to Calvary, this time as a broken, humbled college freshman seeking healing and discipleship. I got involved in the young adult's ministry and eventually joined women's intercessory prayer and the worship team. It was so exciting (and humbling) to finally have believers speaking into my life! As I grow in my walk with the Lord, the Lord is teaching me more about Himself, His love, and the constant surrender that is required to be His disciple. I've been at Calvary for about five years now and since then, the Lord has continued to refine my faith in Him and my passion for serving in ministry. I am overjoyed to join the team here at Calvary as a Faculty Intern!
I was born and raised in Brighton, CO in a Christian home with one older brother, surrounded by godly parents and faith-building grandparents. I accepted Jesus as my Savior at the age of 7 and through a church play, I rededicated my life at age 15. Since then, my walk with the Lord has been an adventure with several mission trips, growing and learning more of who He is and how He orchestrates everything according to His plan. I made Calvary Aurora my home church in 2014 and am humbled to be a part of this ministry, serving our students and families. One of my favorite verses is Jeremiah 29:11 because God has a plan for each of us. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
My family moved to Denver from India in 2004. I was born and brought up in a loving Christian home and accepted Jesus as my personal Savior at an early age. I later rededicated my life to Him in High School. My family, which includes my husband, George, and our children, Esther and Jonathan, has been a part of Calvary Aurora since 2006. I have been teaching 3rd grade for the past 4 years at Calvary Christian Academy. The ‘theme’ verse that my husband and I chose when we got married and continue to hold on to is Psalm 48:14, “For this is God, Our God forever and ever. He will be our guide even to death.”
